We have broad offerings designed for Kindergartens, elementary and middel school, as well as high school and college. If you would like your school to make use of our offerings through Den kulturelle skolesekken please contact the coordinator of DKS in your municipality.

Kindergarten 3- 5 years:

Kongsberg history for the youngest children. Dramatisation of the story about Helga and Jacob, the children that found the silver in 1623. The children joins a tresure hunt for minerals in the Woods Close to the Silvermines. Afterwards they can try to Wash their own silver and mint their own coin. Bring warm clothes and something to sit on. Bring Our own lunch – tables and benches are available outside.

Elementary School, level 4 and 5:

Visit at Your school

Your school receives a visit from the museum’s educator. He shows images and film from Kongsberg Silvermines.

Visit to the Norwegian Mining Museum – the Collections from Kongsberg Silvermines

elever i soelvetThe pupils get a guided tour in the Collections from Kongsberg Silvermines. Afterwards thye work with assignments. It is possilbe to receive these assignments before the visit take Place.

 Visit to the Silvermines – King’s mine

We take the train 2200 meters into the mountain to the King’s mine. Here you will hear about the fahrkunst. Duration 1,5 hour 

Tours in the Cultural landscape near the Silvermins

The Woods west of Kongsberg, towards Knutefjell, is called “Gruveåsen” (the mining area). Here the museum offers guided tours through impressive traces of mining such as mining captain’s house, cottages, stables and a Foundation of a waterwheel, as well as large system of aqueducts, dams, opencasts to the mines and inscriptions in the mountain. Duration 1-3 hours

City walks

Tours through the historical sights of Kongsberg. You can hear how the city looked like in the past and how people lived.

Duration 1,5 hours

The pupils learn about minerals and the museum’s broad collection of minerals through group assignments and activities. Duration 2,5 hours.
